Method

  1. Mix the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, cayenne and half the salt, and press all over the salmon.

  2. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the salmon until a dark crust forms, 3 to 4 minutes, then flip and cook 2 to 3 minutes more until it flakes.

  3. Meanwhile, gently toss the avocado, tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, lime juice and remaining salt.

  4. Spoon the salsa over the salmon and serve.

Tips

  • The spices darken fast; turn on the fan and keep the heat at medium-high, not high.
  • Works with shrimp or chicken cutlets too.
  • Make the salsa just before serving so the avocado stays green.
