Method

  1. Whisk the pudding mix and cold milk in a bowl for 2 minutes, until it starts to thicken.

  2. Let the pudding stand to set while you get on with the rest.

  3. Seal the sandwich cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin into fine crumbs, like dirt. Write "RIP" on each vanilla cookie with the decorating gel to make tombstones.

  4. Spoon a tablespoon of crumbs into each of 4 clear cups or jars. Divide the pudding between them, then cover each with a thick layer of the remaining crumbs.

  5. Push a tombstone upright into the back of each cup and tuck 2 gummy worms in so they look like they're crawling out of the dirt. Serve right away, or refrigerate for up to a day.

Tips

  • Gummy worms contain gelatin, so these aren't vegetarian as written. Look for gelatin-free or vegan gummy worms if that matters.
  • Got kids helping? Set out the crumbs, pudding and toppings and let everyone build their own cup.
  • Add the tombstones just before serving if making ahead, so they stay crisp.
