Ingredients
Method
Make the caramel swirl: stir the condensed milk and caramel sauce together in a small bowl until smooth.
Flash brew the coffee: put 1 handful of ice (about 150 g) in a heatproof jug and brew the ground coffee with the water straight over it in a drip machine or pour-over. Stir until the ice melts and the coffee is cold. Using chilled coffee or cold brew? Skip this step.
Divide the caramel swirl between two tall glasses, add a splash of the coffee and stir until the swirl dissolves.
Fill the glasses with the remaining ice, pour in the rest of the coffee and top each with the light cream. Stir before drinking.
Tips
- The condensed milk is what makes it taste like the original: the swirl is sweet and creamy, not just caramel-flavored like a plain syrup.
- Brewing double-strength over ice means the coffee is cold right away and never tastes watered down. Leftover morning coffee kept in the fridge works just as well.
- Like it sweeter, the way it's served at the counter? Add another tablespoon of the swirl per glass.
